2011-2012 Global and China Polyurethane Industry Chain Report

Polyurethane is the general name for polymers including multiple carbamate groups (-NHCOO-) on main chain of a polymer structure; and its products comprise rigid & flexible PU foams, elastomer, coating, adhesive and fiber, etc.
In 2011, global polyurethane product output approximated 17.65 million tons; rigid & flexible PU foams made larger contribution, around 60% of total output. With the rapidly increasing demand for polyurethane in the Asia-Pacific Region, global polyurethane production center has been moved to Asia-Pacific region, especially China. China’s polyurethane product output accounted for around 33.7% of the global total in 2011.
China’s PU product demand saw a CAGR of 11.8% from 2006 to 2011. In particular, the demand reached 6.8 million tons in 2011, with the self-sufficiency rate 87.5%. Among China’s PU products, rigid & flexible PU foams, synthetic leather pulp and coating showed higher demand; and their accumulative demands occupied about 80% of total PU product demand in China in 2011.

Sports Medicine Devices Market By Products & Application (2012 – 2017) [Bone, Cartilage, Ligament, Tendon Reconstruction & Repair, Braces, Hot & Cold Therapy, Topical Pain Relief, Compression Clothing, Bandages, Wraps & Tapes, Shoulder, Elbow-Wrist, Back-Spine, Hip-Groin, Knee, Ankle-Foot] Global Trends & Competitive Analysis

Sports medicine is a very dynamic field that has made a mark in the healthcare sector in the last decade. The field has witnessed a spurt in technology and has grown with the rise in medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices. With regional sports gaining popularity, sports medicine is all set to play an extremely vital role in a sportsperson’s vital statistics, monitoring, and diagnostics by maintaining the highest level of balance between body exhaustion and recovery. This will be accomplished by pushing the athlete’s body to the limit with the help of the latest technology. Sports medicine devices will help monitor, diagnose and treat athlete burnout and injuries such as plantar fasciitis, heel spur, flat feet, Morton’s neuroma, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament injuries (PCL), hammer toe, arthritis, chronic back pain, calf stiffness, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, Achilles tendon injury, etc.
Devices including Primus Rehabilitation by BTE Technologies with patient monitors such as spirometers, electrocardiographs, stress monitors, electromyography (EMG) are crucial in maintaining top form for an athlete and are also useful in studying the performance of competitors. High-end technologies such as balance and gait monitors, and motion analysis are used in experiments to determine the optimum positioning of the body with respect to the type of sport played. Each type of sport puts a certain amount of pressure on particular areas of the body. Baseball pitchers and cricket bowlers tend to injure their shoulders more often. Similarly, batsmen tend to injure their arms and wrists at a higher rate. Marathon runners, basketball players, and tennis players have a high rate of muscle injuries in the limbs.

China Budget Hotel Industry Report, 2011-2012

Chinese budget hotel industry has been in a period of high-speed growth since 2006. In 2011, the market size climbed 45.5% YoY to RMB26 billion; the number of budget hotels hit 7,314, a rise of 42.85%, involving 747,045 guest rooms, up by 37.27%.

At present, Chinese budget hotel enterprises are still in the “big but not strong” stage. Take market share for example, the total revenue of hotels in China has a concentration ratio (CR4) just 37% in 2011. As the Chinese budget hotel market is far from being saturated, fast expansion in future competition is primarily conducted through franchise chain and mergers & acquisitions.

Home Inns: Following the acquisition on Motel 168 in May 2011, Home Inns triumphantly purchased E-inn Express Hotel on July 2, 2012. Through the two acquisitions, its regional distribution pattern got further optimized. As of Q1 2012, Home Inns has had 1,479 hotels, including 702 outlets and 777 franchisees.

7 Days Inn: On December 31, 2011, 7 Days Inn completed the acquisition on Huatian Star, with the hotel number reaching 1,044 inclusive of 417 outlets, 627 franchisees and altogether 104,101 guest rooms, spreading across 162 cities in China. In 2012, the company will gear the long-term development strategy towards the rapid expansion model centered by franchisement, raise the goals for setting up franchisees from 240 to 320, and reduce the outlet open-up from 120 to 80.

Hanting Inns & Hotels: in June 2012, Hanting Inns & Hotels held the mid-range hotel chain Starway Hotel. By the end of Q1 2012, Hanting has owned 675 hotels, involving 353 outlets and 322 franchisees.

China Budget Hotel Industry Report, 2011-2012 mainly covers the followings:
  • Scale, operation, development and competitive landscape of Chinese budget hotel industry;
  • Analysis on the budget hotel markets in 14 major cities around China, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc.;

Launchers for Unmanned Aerial Systems and Targets: Market Shares, Strategies, and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2012 to 2018

WinterGreen Research announces that it has published a new study Launchers for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS): Market Shares, Strategy, and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2012 to 2018. The 2012 study has 325 pages, 101 tables and figures. Worldwide markets are poised to achieve significant growth as the launchers for unmanned aerial systems provide a way to automate surveillance of wide areas and implement strategic military missions that strike at terrorists without injuring civilians.

Launchers for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are portable devices that support remote placement of ways to launch self-piloted aircraft. These UAS aircraft can carry cameras, sensors, communications equipment or other payloads. UAVs are smaller than manned aircraft. They are cost-effectively stored and transported creating the need for portable launchers. The UAS do not need an airfield to take off, creating significant UAVs make significant contributions to the fighting capability of operational war forces.

The designs developed by engineering staff are strong, sturdy, and capable of operating in the most severe environmental conditions. Modular designs create the capacity for interchangeable functions on the same launcher. Modular systems support component replacement instead of complete overhaul.

Since launchers may be used by someone who is unfamiliar with them, it is important that they be user-friendly.

In-the-field serviceability is a necessity because the unmanned systems may be located anywhere. The value of the systems is that they are flexible and easily sent off in the place where there is trouble, where they are needed. In this instance, quick re-configuration is a necessity.

They provide extensive need for experience in weight management, RFI problem solving, range maximization and optimization of system performance, and integration of airframe, avionics and payloads. The aim is to design launchers for UAVs/UATs of any geometric configuration and exit velocity.

Launchers are used to launch drones. Drones are technically known as unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs. The launchers for these aircraft support remote take off for air strikes and surveillance without the benefit fo an airport. They are used by governments.

According to Susan Eustis, lead author of the WinterGreen Research team that prepared the launchers for unmanned aircraft market research study, "Launchers can be used to eliminate the need for airports for a broad mix of unmanned aircraft. Unmanned aircraft are smaller, lighter, and speedier. Unmanned aircraft promise to remake the military mantra, paving the way for a new world order."

Unmanned aircraft systems promise to achieve a more significant aspect of military presence. Markets for unmanned aircraft launchers at $118 million in 2011 are anticipated to reach $1.3 billion by 2018. Growth will come as the drones are lighter and less expensive, performing aerial warfighter tasks remotely, with no danger to a human pilot.
